The moon is shaped like a lemon?

A group of scientists from the University of California Santa Cruz, United States, seems to have solved the mystery of how the moon. Far from being a perfect sphere, the earth satellite is slightly flattened and has a bump on the side, which makes that resembles the shape of a lemon.

To know the origin of this Lunar morphology is important to understand the geological processes that occurred on the moon after its formation. As the Moon cooled and solidified over four billion years ago, the sculpting effects of tidal forces and rotation froze.

According to these American scientists these accidents mainly suffered by the moon are the sculpted their ‘thill’ figure.
